Sue-Ann Watson
Principle Investigator Sue-Ann is an Associate Professor at James Cook University and Senior Scientist and Curator of Marine Invertebrates at the Queensland Museum Tropics in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Sue-Ann gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Biology from the University of Nottingham and MSc in Oceanography from University of Southampton and National Oceanography Centre. For her PhD in Marine Biology, with the University of Southampton, National Oceanography Centre and British Antarctic Survey, she researched marine invertebrates around the world, in collaboration with the National University of Singapore, University of Melbourne and James Cook University. Sue-Ann supports a culture of work-life balance in science. President, Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) North Queensland Branch Associate Editor, Functional Ecology Review Editor, Frontiers in Marine Science Major awards include: Queensland Young Tall Poppy Scientist of the Year 2014 Australian Marine Sciences Association Emerging Leader in Marine Science 2023 Queensland Women in STEM Prize 2023 Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship 2024 |
